A wall of eye
This exhibit has been slowly getting smaller, as boundless group creativity slowly meets reality.
Originally a hall of eyes was planned, then a wall, then a matrix, then two eye prototypes, and finally a single eye prototype looks to make it to the exhibition. But the work done so far has been very enlightening.
The premise of this is to create a simple, cheap and natural looking eye movement so that a mechanical eye can follow people as they pass through a space, or dart around nervously etc.
At the moment a servo based eye prototype is in the making, and will be housed in a wooden box.
A second prototype was created, and works using a electromagnetic rig to pull the metallic bottom of a wooden eyeball in various directions. This results in fluid eye movement, and is incredibly promising, but at the moment not ready enough to show, according to it's inventor for various reasons. (maybe for a future exhibition? We might even manage the wall then!)
