A playful intervention based on exposing hierarchies within network systems.
Open to all, this event will be set up in the morning, and run throughout the day across all other events, incorporating all spaces inside and outside the Arnolfini. Awards ceremony will take place at the end of the day.

Date: Sunday 13th December
Duration: All day
Opening Ceremony: 11.30am (half an hour)
Awards Ceremony: 7.00pm (half an hour)
Location: Brainfood (the bar)

** caution ** this game may involve being thwacked with a sock. see disclaimer at bottom of page.

Equipment:

1x pair of socks

    - one sock is to be balled up and stuffed into the toe of other sock. This is your weapon, (it is called a Sock).

Game Set-up:

All players must attend the Opening Ceremony.

At the Opening Ceremony you will write down on a piece of paper your name, work position, and a few words about what you do - This is your Bio.

All Bios are placed in a hat and draw by the players.

The Bio you draw from the hat is your Target - KEEP YOUR TARGET SECRET.

The game begins at the end of the Opening Ceremony.

Aim / Rules:

You aim is to seek out your Target and Sock 'em!

     - ie, making any physical contact between your Sock and your Target. Where on the body and how hard is up to you. (see disclaimer at the bottom of this page)

You must avoid being Socked, or you are out of the game.

You can only be safe from being Socked if you are touching another player.

When you Sock someone, they must give you their Target Bio - This is your new Target.

Once Socked, you are out.

The winner is the last person to survive without being Socked.

Game end:

The Game formally ends either when all but one person has been Socked, or at the start of the Awards Ceremony.

At the Awards Ceremony, the winner(s) will receive a special prize.

We will all clap the winner, and wish we were him/her/them.

This game is dedicated to Aaron Matthews, who taught it to me. I don't know where he got it from.

DISCLAIMER: I would advocate restraint in the act of Socking, as befitting the context of the location. 'I'f you damage or destroy any property, hurt or kill someone, get hurt yourself or die as a result of this game, you only have yourself to blame.
